Tool Framer in development

Frame to Component

Privacy policy

What Frame to Component reads in the Framer editor, what it sends over the network and to whom, what it keeps on your device, and how your purchase is handled.

In short

  • The plugin runs inside the Framer editor, in your browser. It reads the layers of the frame you select and generates the code there. Your design is never sent to me or to anyone else.
  • It never changes your project. The only thing it changes is which layer is selected, when you click a report row.
  • It makes only these network requests: the license check with Lemon Squeezy (your license key and an activation ID, nothing from your design), your images, only if you turn on image bundling, and the Inter font from Framer.
  • Your options, tour progress and license key are kept in your browser’s storage, on your device. I have no server for this plugin, and I can’t see any of it.
  • There are no analytics, no tracking, no cookies of mine and no ads.

Who this policy covers

This policy covers the Framer plugin Frame to Component (“the plugin”), made by Christian Ortiz, an individual publishing as Christian Ortiz Studio (“I”, “me”). It explains what the plugin does with your data while it runs in the Framer editor, what happens when you buy a license, and how I handle the information you share with me.

It doesn’t cover Framer itself, which is governed by Framer’s privacy policy, or Lemon Squeezy’s checkout, which is governed by Lemon Squeezy’s privacy policy.

What the plugin reads in Framer

Framer runs the plugin in a separate frame inside the editor and gives it the Framer plugin API. The plugin uses only these parts of it:

  • Your current selection, to know which frame or component to convert.
  • The layers inside it: their names, types, layout, sizes, positions, text, its font and its Text Style’s typography, fills, borders, corner radius, opacity, and the addresses of their images. These are read into the plugin’s memory to generate the code and the conversion report, and are gone when you close the plugin.
  • Whether you’re allowed to change the selection in this project, so it can tell you if you’re in view-only mode.
  • Selecting a layer, when you click a row in the conversion report.

It calls no Framer method that edits your project, and it doesn’t store anything in your project (it doesn’t use Framer’s plugin data, which every member of the project could read). Copying puts the code on your clipboard; downloading saves a zip through your browser. Both happen only when you click.

What it sends over the network, and to whom

The code is generated locally. The plugin makes only these requests:

  • License check, to Lemon Squeezy (api.lemonsqueezy.com). When you activate a key, the plugin sends the license key and the name framer-plugin. Later checks, and Remove license key, send the license key and the activation ID Lemon Squeezy gave it. Lemon Squeezy answers whether the key is valid and for which product. Like any website, Lemon Squeezy also receives your IP address and browser details with each request. Nothing about your design or your project is sent.
  • Your images, only if you turn on “Bundle images into zip”. When you download the zip, the plugin fetches each image in the selection from the address it already has (usually Framer’s image host), to put it in the zip. Nothing is sent except the request for the image.
  • The Inter font, from Framer. The plugin’s interface uses Framer’s own stylesheet, which loads the Inter font from Framer’s servers.

Links in the plugin (Buy a license, Documentation, Support, Refund policy) open in a new browser tab only when you click them.

What it keeps on your device

The plugin keeps three small records in your browser’s storage (local storage) for the plugin, on your own device. They never leave it, except the license key as described above.

  • Options (cx.prefs.v1): CSS module or inline styles, whether to bundle images, and the component names you’ve typed, for up to 50 frames, keyed by the layer’s ID.
  • License (cx.license.v1): your license key, its activation ID, its status, and when it was last checked (for the 7-day offline grace period).
  • Tour (frame-to-component:tour:v1): whether you’ve seen or finished the tour.

To delete them: Reset to defaults in Export options clears the options and the tour record; Remove license key clears the license; clearing your browser’s site data removes all three. If your browser blocks storage, the plugin keeps them in memory until you close it.

Buying a license

The license is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the reseller (merchant of record): it runs the checkout, takes the payment, handles sales tax, sends the receipt and the license key, and processes refunds. Framer doesn’t take part in the payment. The plugin never sees your payment details.

As the seller, I can see in Lemon Squeezy what it shares with sellers about each order: your name, email address, country, what you bought and when, the price paid, refunds, and the license key with its activations. I use this only to provide the license, support and refunds, and to keep the business and tax records the law requires. I keep it for as long as those purposes need, and no longer than tax law requires for records.

I don’t add you to a mailing list, and I don’t send marketing email.

Support emails

If you email me, I receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write and attach. I use it only to answer you, and delete it when you ask, unless I need to keep it for a legal reason.

Who’s responsible for your data

  • Your design never reaches me: it’s processed only by the plugin on your device.
  • For your purchase and licensing data and your support emails, I’m the controller. Lemon Squeezy is a separate controller for the checkout and payment, under its own policy.
  • Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, I don’t sell or share personal information.

Sharing

I don’t sell, rent or share your data. The plugin’s only third parties are Framer, the platform it runs in, and Lemon Squeezy, which sells the license and checks keys. I’d disclose information only if the law required me to.

Security

  • No design data leaves your device, so there’s nothing of yours on a server of mine to protect or lose.
  • The license check goes over HTTPS to Lemon Squeezy only. The plugin never contains or needs a Lemon Squeezy API secret.
  • The license key is kept in your browser’s storage for the plugin, not in your Framer project, so other members of a shared project can’t read it. On screen it shows only its last four characters.
  • Security contact: email support@christianortiz.studio with Security in the subject line. I acknowledge security reports within two business days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your personal data, or to object to how it’s used. Email me and I’ll respond within 30 days.

Children

The plugin is a professional design tool and isn’t directed at children.

Changes to this policy

If I change this policy, I’ll update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how your data is handled in a meaningful way, such as a new network request, I’ll also say so in the plugin’s Marketplace listing before it takes effect.
