How to reach me

Recipe to List is made and supported by me, Christian Ortiz, publishing as Christian Ortiz Studio. Email support@christianortiz.studio and the message comes straight to me. There’s no ticket queue to get lost in. In the app, Settings → Email Support and Help → Email support open an email to the same address.

Before you write, the documentation may already have the answer, especially its FAQ and troubleshooting sections. In the app, Help (the question mark on the Library, List and Settings screens) has the same how-tos and questions, and works offline.

When you’ll hear back

I reply to every message within two business days (Monday to Friday, 5 pm to 9 pm US Pacific Time), and usually sooner. If you’ve lost recipes or lists, put Recovery in the subject line and I’ll look at it first.

Import didn’t work?

Most import problems are fixed in the app:

  1. Check that you copied the recipe page’s own link, and that it starts with https.
  2. If the app says no recipe was found, the page has no recipe data it can read. Copy the recipe’s text on the page, then tap Add Recipe → Paste text and Parse pasted text.
  3. If the page couldn’t be reached, check your connection. Some sites refuse automated requests; Paste text works for those too.
  4. If the recipe was found but a line is wrong, edit it in the preview before you tap Save.

If a recipe site that should work doesn’t, email me the link (see below). I can’t make every site work, but I’ll look at it.

Report a bug

Email me with as much of this as you can:

  • Your iPhone model and iOS version (Settings → General → About).
  • The app version (Settings → About → Version in the app).
  • What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead.
  • For an import: the link of the recipe page and what the app said.
  • For a wrong amount: the recipes and servings you chose, and what Build List or the recipe showed.
  • A screenshot, if you can.

The app sends me nothing by itself, so your email is the only way I’ll know. I’ll confirm I can reproduce it, tell you what I’m doing about it, and let you know when a fix is released.

Lost a recipe or a list?

  • Deleted in the last 30 days: Settings → Recently Deleted, then Restore.
  • Older, or changed by mistake: Settings → Export & Backup, pick a snapshot and tap Restore. Restoring replaces what’s in the app now with that snapshot, so export first if you want a copy of the current state.
  • On a new iPhone: if you exported a JSON file, import it with Settings → Export & Backup → Import from file. Otherwise your recipes come back only if you restore your iPhone from a backup that included the app.

I never have a copy of your recipes, so I can’t restore them from my side, but I’m glad to help you work through these steps.

The one-time unlock

  • Restore it: tap Restore Purchases in Settings or on the unlock screen, signed in with the Apple Account you bought with. It works on a new iPhone and after reinstalling.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple, not by me: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If a purchase is refunded, the unlock ends: your recipes are kept and stay viewable, editable and exportable.
  • Receipts are in your Apple Account’s purchase history.

Report a security issue

If you’ve found a security problem, email me with Security in the subject line and include how to reproduce it. Please don’t post it publicly until it’s fixed. I acknowledge security reports within two business days.

Request a feature

I’d like to hear it. Tell me what you cook and shop for and where the app gets in the way; the most useful requests describe what you’re trying to do, not just the button. I read every one, and I’ll tell you honestly whether it’s likely to be built.

Your data

Your recipes, lists, staples, stores and snapshots are stored only on your iPhone. I never receive them, so there’s nothing on my side to delete.

  • Delete a recipe or list: delete it, then delete it permanently in Settings → Recently Deleted, or let it go after 30 days.
  • Delete all: Settings → Delete All Data, and confirm twice.
  • Delete everything: delete the app from your iPhone. That removes all its data, including its snapshots.

Reminders you sent to the Reminders app and files you exported stay where you put them; delete them there.

If you email me, I keep your message as long as needed to help you, and delete it on request. The privacy policy has every detail.
