What it does
Page Tree Markdown Export adds Export page tree to Markdown to the ••• menu of every Confluence page, and a Markdown Export page to each space. Pick a page, see exactly how many pages will be exported, and start. The export runs in the background — you can close the tab — and when it’s done you download a ZIP of Markdown files.
Inside the ZIP, folders mirror your page tree in the same order Confluence shows it. Links between exported pages become relative links that still work. Images and attachments sit next to the page that uses them. An index.md at the top lists every page, and a report.md lists anything that couldn’t be reproduced faithfully, with a link back to the original page.
Who it’s for
Teams moving documentation out of Confluence and into Git, a static site, or another wiki — and anyone who needs a readable, portable copy of a space. It’s built for Confluence Cloud and works the same on Mac, Windows and Linux.
It isn’t for styled PDF or Word documents, and it doesn’t import Markdown back into Confluence.
The problems it fixes
- You can’t find how to export more than one page. The export lives on the page menu and in the space sidebar, and it starts with the whole tree ticked.
- Grandchild pages go missing. Every descendant is included, however deep.
- Page order is lost. Files and folders are numbered in Confluence’s own order.
- Links and images break. Links between pages and to images are rewritten to local paths.
- Code blocks get mangled. Code keeps its exact whitespace and language.
- One odd macro ruins the whole export. Unsupported macros become a labelled placeholder, and the export carries on.
- You only find gaps later. The report tells you what needs a look before you rely on the files.
- Accented titles turn into dashes. File names keep their letters (Přehled becomes
Prehled.md).
Pricing
Planned to be free for Confluence sites with up to 10 users, with paid tiers for larger sites billed through Atlassian. Exact prices will be on the Marketplace listing.
Your data
Runs entirely on Atlassian’s own platform (Forge). Converted Markdown waits in your site’s app storage until you download it and is deleted after 7 days, or sooner if you delete the export. Nothing is sent anywhere else, and there is no analytics or tracking.
